I cannot believe that Valentine’s Day is over now and we are already moving into March and the Spring holidays like St. Patricks Day. St. Patricks day is a fun holiday in the USA, at least in modern times. I think I remember reading somewhere that it was actually a violent event that caused the day to be remembered but as most holidays and days we remember, we eventually turn them into a fun and festive holiday. Anyways, with the fun and festive part of the holidays, I remember when I was in college and I was never a beer drinker. I was more of the Vodka type of Girl or Mixed Drinks Girl.

During St. Patricks Day I was hanging out with my friends Valerie and Nick and Nick being the Irish guy in the room and Valerie being his girlfriend, they decided to introduce me to something new that I hadn’t tried before. No, unfortunately it wasn’t Guinness beer, but it was Jamesons Whiskey Shots.

Ok, I hated being the wuss with the shots so I sucked it up and I dealt with it, it was college and St. Patricks Day afterall and afterwards Nick decided to tell us that there is more to doing a shot of Jamesons Whiskey than just drinking it and trying to hold back the face you make when you aren’t used to taking Irish Whiskey Shots.

He gave us this beer that came in a really cool looking can. It was seriously dark and really easy to drink. I was completely shocked that I actually sort of enjoyed drinking it, especially because I was definitely 100% a mixed drinks type of girl so when I took my first sip of Guinness beer, and liked it for a change, I was completely hooked.

After that first can of Guinness beer, I decided this has to be a tradition for me on St. Patricks Day. If I go out or to a bar for St. Patricks Day, I have to have a Guinness beer when I go.

Now that I have grown up a bit more and the bar scene isn’t really for me. Neither is having a beer in the middle of the day during the week each week like in college, I figured I could modify my tradition a little bit.

So when I was thinking of how I could keep the Guinness tradition but not have to drink a ton of beer, I figured what do I love more than a cold drink in the afternoon on the weekend, laying around with a book or watching tv and not having to do a thing.
