Whimzy Pets and Squinkies

So after starting to watch all of the new back to school trends there are two toys and products that are really standing out as the big back to school trend toys this year. Whimzy Pets and Squinkies. Both Whimzy Pets and Squinkies have funny names and are fun to say but they are both affordable collectible toys and gifts for your kids. So what are they and why are they the newest back to school trend products? Lets start with Squinkies and then do Whimzey Pets.

Squinkies are fun little miniature collectible animals that come in gumball and prize machine styled houses.  The Squinkies homes are made of colorful plastic that looks like gumball machines and teapots and the Squinkies palace is also a cool looking machine.  Squinkies are little collectible animals and dolls that come in little prize balls, which is why there is the squinkies houses theme of gumball machines with turning knobs to get your prize.  The Squinkies all come in the little prize balls so it is like you are at a restaurant or mall where they have the gumball and prize machines except your kids don’t need a quarter for their squinkies prizes because they already have the squinkies.  Squinkies combine the addictive gumball machines and prizes with cute collectible dolls and when you take that and mix it with trendy looking toys that girls love they will be going crazy for squinkies all back to school season.  For some reason Squinkies are taking off and girls everyone are going crazy for them and showing them off.  They are using them to decorate backpacks, keychains, pencils and pens and some are just carrying them around and showing them off as a best friend.

Whimzy Pets.

So if your girls aren’t going crazy over Squinkies then they may be falling in love with the Whimzey Pets.  Whimzy Pets are tiny little stuffed animal styled collectible toys that sort of look like Beanie Babies.  Whimzey Pets combine the cute look of the beanie baby with a tiny stuffed animal styled toy whose arms are formed to look like they are hugging you.  Kids are using Whimzy Pets as hair decorations, around their fingers when showing them off and keeping them by their computers to show off to their frends.  Whimzey Pets come in a million styles and have cute and fun names for all the different Whimzey Pets animals like the Unicorn, the turtle, the monkeys, the dogs, the parrot, the lion, the kitten and all of the other fun whimzy pets.

Pillow Pets As Seen On TV

I saw these Pillow Pets while watching tv the other day and had to share them with you.  Pillow Pets are fun animal shaped pillows for little kids that not only work like a pillow for them to sleep with but are also a toy and stuffed animal for them to play with.  Pillow Pets can be taken on overnight sleepovers at your kids friends houses or even be brought to sleep over camp if they get homesick so they have something to help remind them of home.  Pillow Pets are a genius idea because not only did the company that invented Pillow Pets create a fun toy, but they also created a fun pillow that will help make bedtime fun so that there are less fights in the evening.   I love the Pillow Pets and think that pillow pets are not only perfect for your kid to bring to a sleepover party but pillow pets are perfect presents for the kids coming to the sleepover party.

They not only have pillow pets for girls, but Pillow Pets also made animals for boys.  You can buy everything from the lady bug or unicorn for girls to the monkey or frog for boys.  They are made for both sexes so that your ids don’t have to fight over them and no one has to be left out of the fun with these fabulous animal shaped pillows.  Whats even better is that besides sleeping with your pillow pet you can also play with it.

By taking the strap and folding it across the middle of the pillow pet you have not folded it over creating what looks like 4 legs.  Because the pillow now has four legs and a head it has become a new toy for your kids to play with.  Now your kid can have their favorite pillow for when they go to bed and a new best friend to play with when they wake up.  Kids love stuffed animals and that is why I think they are definitely going to love these fabulous animal shaped pillows.  So what are the different types of Pillow Pets?

Cuponk As Seen On TV

I know this is a pajamas blog but when I saw a new infomercial for a product called Cuponk this morning I thought it was perfect for the Pajama Party section as a great pajama party game.  Cuponk is a game that should only be played under close adult supervision.  What you do is you take the cuponk cup and place it somewhere in the room.  Then you take the cuponk ping pong balls and you set up a goal for the kids to throw it in so that the end result is that the cuponk ball lands in the cuponk cup.  It sounds kind of boring or easy but when you play cuponk as seen on tv, you’ll see how addictive and fun cuponk as seen on tv really is.

The most basic way to play cuponk is to set up a line in the room and make the kids stand behind the line and then one at a time they have to toss their ball and the first one to get theirs in wins.  You could also play it in reverse by the last person to get their ball in with this basic head on shot looses and doesn’t get to go onto the next round. If you chose this game where it progressively gets harder and someone is eliminated after each game, then you have a seriously fun game of cuponk ahead of you.

After the first person is eliminated, you can now make the game more tricky.  Instead of just getting the cuponk ping pong ball in the cup, you can say the ball has to bounce twice before it lands in.  It can bounce on the floor, off the wall or off anything but it has to bounce twice.  This now makes the game more challenging.   (If you don’t want anyone excluded you could always play by assigning cuponk points to the kids as they win they get more points so the first one in gets 5, the second one in gets 4, the third 3, etc… and make the total points for the first one be based on how many people are playing).

After that round you can now make it even more difficult by making them have to have 3 bounces with one of them being off the wall or they have to hit the ceiling and then get it in the cuponk cup.

So there is a brand new trendy fashion craze called Silly Bandz.  Not only have silly bandz taken over the lives of kids this summer but silly bandz have also taken over adults, club goers, college students, high school students and everyone else in between.  It is always funny how something so simple can become something so trendy like Poggs or Beany Babies or Jelly bracelets.  So what are Silly Bandz and who are Silly Bandz good for or fun for?

What are Silly Bandz?

Silly Bandz are rubber bands that are shaped in fun shapes.  They come in packs of 24 or if you go to a store that sells silly bandz you can sometimes buy them individually.  Silly bandz can be used for normal things that regular rubber bands are used for like holding rolled paper together and for closing and holding bags closed like when you need to close or keep closed a bag of chips or snack foods.  Silly Bandz come in a ton of colors and shapes including blue, green, red, yellow and everything from mermaids, to baseball shapes to US patriotic shapes that also come in red white and blue and pretty much everything in between.  The funny thing is though that instead of using silly bandz to be practical, people are using them as a fashion accessory.

Over the fourth of july weekend I went to the beach with my friends.  Not only did we go shopping but when we would pass by stores we would see signs for silly bandz everywhere.  I was wondering what everyone at the beach was wearing on their wrists and finally the store clerk took one off and it popped back into its original shape instead of a regular rubber band.   After she showed us that I noticed that everyone at the beach was wearing these things.

Who uses silly bandz?

Silly bandz can be used by just about everyone (as long as they are old enough if kids and they have parental supervision).  I saw kids going crazy over them in the stores and shops and I saw our servers and bartenders (both male and female) wearing them at the restaurants and bars.  People in the clubs were giving them out to people they thought were cute and they sort of became their own form of currency.  Kids were trading them like they were baseball cards and parents were getting stuck wearing them when their kids gave them a couple (however they also seemed like they thought they were cool to).   At the beach house we rented, before I found out what they were, I just thought that they were cool looking rubber bands, unfortunately my friends didn’t think it was that cool when I used the ones laying out on the counter to close a bag of chips.  Although they were probably intended for practical purposes and for age appropriate kids (whatever the minimum age is on the silly bandz package) it turns out that just about everyone loved silly bandz.  I even ended up wearing a couple of them on my wrists as well.

Silly Bandz for Boys:

There are tons of shapes and styles for silly bandz and especially silly bandz for boys.  You can buy silly bandz for boys in shapes like rock bands, baseball shapes (which could considered softball silly bandz shapes as well for girls), Silly Bandz dinosaurs, military shapes and a heck of a lot more.  The thing is that although bracelets and toy jewelry is normally a girls thing, silly bandz made shapes that were perfect for girls but they also made some fabulous and fun silly bandz for boys as well including my personal favorites the rainforest, wild west and the silly bandz piratez bandz.

Of course when you think of toy jewelry you think it is for girls instead of boys and you can buy silly bandz girls shapes in a ton of fun styles.  Some of the most popular girls silly bandz include the princess shapes, fantasy shapes, letters so they can spell their names and more.  Girls love the silly bandz and I can see why, they are cute, fun and an absolutely creative toy that they can collect and play with.  There are tons of girls silly bandz styles and if you have both boys and girls or are giving silly bandz away as party favors you could always buy silly bandz in mixed packs.

Fuzzoodles - As Seen On TV

Ok, today I saw an infomercial for Fuzzoodles.  Not only did I fall in love with Fuzzoodles, mainly because I used to love Bendaroos and these are like the new bendaroos, but Fuzzoodles are perfect for sleep over and pajama parties.

Fuzzoodles are huge and what look like fluffy or fuzzy pipe cleaners that not only come in a bunch of bright fun colors, but Fuzzoodles also come with removable eyes, ears, noses and other fun and funny body parts.  You can use Fuzzoodles to decorate pens and create funny looking or ferocious animals and monsters.  You can take an angry monster and make him a best friend just by changing the eyes or mouth and make an ordinary pen a best pal by twisting your favorite colored fuzzoodles around it and throwing on a fun face.  What I like even more about fuzzoodles is that you can also use them to turn an ordinary sleepover party into an all out overnight blast.

Just buy fuzzoodles and create a few funny characters of your own.  Then let all of the guests at the pajama party design their own favorite characters and then write a play.  You can then have them all break out into teams and have each of the teams put on a fuzzoodles puppet show for their friends and make sure you buy fuzzoodles for a prize because you know the winning team will want to have their own sets for to show off to all of their other friends when they get home.

The infomercial for fuzzoodles completely sold me, mainly because I think things that encourage creativity and arts are one of the most important things you can get a child to learn.  When I saw this new infomercial for these huge bright colored pipe cleaners I instantly fell in love and if my niece was old enough for them I would completely buy fuzzoodles for her as they really are a perfect gift.  They are educational, inspire creativity and look like a ton of fun to play with.  Best of all is that I don’t think that Fuzzoodles will be able to create a huge mess so her mom will love them even more.

If you know me then you know I absolutely love Betty Boop and just about anything with Betty Boop on it.  Not only is she a sign of femininity and a flapper girl fashionista, but she is one of the most recognizable cartoon characters in American Culture.  Betty not only took the world by storm, but she did it while singing, dancing and being one of the very original American Divas, but without all of the attitude.

Chocolate Covered Fruit For Relaxing Nights

Ok so I know this is not at all about pajamas and has nothing to do with them, but when you want to just lay around your house for a change and avoid your friends or have friends over for the night like for a sleep over party or girls night or spa night in, the one thing you cannot live without is chocolate and chocolate covered fruit.
